The Arctic Circle
Sunday 30th - Sightseeing with the hosts.

1
Sunday is family day! Most of the host families took their hosts to the Arctic Circle today. Unfortunately, the weather is unusually good, with relatively high temperatures - and no snow...
Still we had a nice day, and after the visit to the Arctic Circle our guest were together with their hosts. Some went to the Swedish border, some to a local café out here in the wilderness, and some went to a so-called "gapahuk" (a kind of shed) by a small lake not far away from the Circle. The photographer joined the last group, therefore many of the pictures were taken there.
2
The students and teachers are standing exactly on the Arctic Circle - the ones to the left are standing south of it being able to see the sun in the middle of the winter - the ones to the right are standing north of it - not being able to see the sun in the middle of the winter. In the middle of the summer it is the complete opposite, north of it you will see the sun all the night - south of it it will be light, but you will not see the sun.

26 - King Winter is coming...
The first frosty days have marked the little lake with the inevitable signs of the approaching King Winter. In just a few days the surface will be covered by a thick layer of ice and snow...
